Let’s start with IL GIARDINO SEGRETO — The Secret Garden
A hidden place for quiet magic.
INTRODUCTION
Hidden behind a handmade tiled gate lies one of the most personal spaces in Uccello Lane — the Secret Garden.
It is part Hobbit House, part studio, part dream, and entirely created by hand.
HOW IT BEGAN
I began with an idea:
A small enclosed space… walls high enough for privacy… a curved door… and tiles made by me.
The name — Il Giardino Segreto — came first.
The building followed slowly.
MAKING THE WALLS & DOORS
- Every tile on the door is handmade
- The walls were built over months
- The gate was fitted and adjusted five times
- The colours were chosen from the plants — sage, clay, bark

The feeling of the place…
Inside, it feels quiet — like stepping into a storybook.
Winding paths.
Shade.
Filtered light through foliage.
A sense of being tucked away from the world. This is where I sit when I need to relax.
Planting in the Secret Garden
- Small understory natives
- Shade-loving perennials
- Climbers softening the walls
- Moss and ferns near the base stones
- Evergreen shapes for year-round green
What’s Next
A small bench is planned.
More tiles.
Possibly a lantern.
A sense of “becoming” remains — as it should in every garden.
