Stenocarpus sinuatus, known as the firewheel tree, is an Australian rainforest tree in the family Proteaceae. The range of natural distribution is in various rainforest types from the Nambucca River in New South Wales to the Atherton Tableland in tropical Queensland. It is slow growing and after 12 years since we planted it at Uccello Lane we were stunned to see these amazing “color wheels” start emerging from the trunk – first time!
An obvious winner of the Plant of the Month
