Echinacea – a.k.a. Cone flower

We have always wanted to grow Echinacea’s (cornflower) – there are so many colors and the flower is vibrant and ubusual in it’s form. The first year we grew it it seemed so simple and easy – we bought a pot and planted them – and they just took off and the died back come autumn – and were never seen again. We planted daliah’s which next to them which seemed to help – and the bees really liked it!

Each year we tried all ways, seedlings, established plants even seeds – no success. Then this year we went to Antique Perennials and sought advice – we got 3 plants and yes – bingo! They grew, the flowers lasted and more grew. It was a miracle.

Worthy of being our first Plant of the Month – January 2025!
