Granny's Bonnet - Aquilegia Lemon and pink

Granny’s Bonnet – a.k.a. Aquilegia!

Aquilegia vulgaris is a species of columbine native to Europe with common names that include: European columbine, common columbine, granny’s nightcap, and granny’s bonnet. It is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant growing to 1.2 m tall, with branched, thinly hairy stems.

They are stars of the perennial – many colours and tall and very unusual. It looks a bit chaotic – more like a meadow but it has different colours blossoming every day – it is a treat! They are also in the Birch forest and various other places and I think they are my favourite flower right now! They also self seed and appear in the most unexpected places – such as next to the waterfall!
