So the Perennial Meadow/Garden is now established and despite being planted exactly differently to all good advice – eg. Tall at the back – ground cover at front it is just perfect for Uccello lane. It is on a slope so anyway you view it is fine plus we have put a temporary stepping stone pathway in so you can meander through and see everything! We got wastepaper baskets from KMart to cover small plant from the rabbits which worked really well. – until it didn’t. The rabbits just ate everything and the “meadow” look was out of control.
So we put a brick sided pathway with gradual step downs through and a seat, a handrail, a paved landing with some Mary Lou Pittard tiles of course! THEN a rabbit proof fence and a gate made of some of the off-cuts from the yellow box tree and some road side wrought iron. It all just needs to grow but the potential is there – now the rabits stopped eating!

Everything we planed in the perennial is now ready to either self seed or die back during winter and emerge again in late spring. It is like a highly pattered scarf.
